In this tutorial, Mahalo's Windows expert Sean Hewitt shows you how to safely navigate the web and how to spot a fake Facebook website. Fake scam websites look almost identical to the websites you intend to visit and they exist exclusively to capture your information. The most common type of fake website is for Facebook. These sites utilize similar looking sign-in pages for Facebook that, to an undiscerning eye, can be deceptive. Frequently, you will land on these false pages through redirects. For example, you click a link that informs you need to log back on to Facebook. When you type in your information, you are essentially handing it over to criminals. One key indicator is the address bar. In this case, the address should read Facebook.com, whereas the other pages will not have that as their address. This technique is used for websites other than Facebook. Banking information and social security numbers are among the coveted information online that thieves are trying to steal. Keep an eye on the address bar for the correct web address, and you will avoid this from happening. Read more by visiting our page at: http://www.mahalo.com/learn-windows-7-spotting-fake-sites/ |
