Shortly after Porsche revealed the heavily modified interior of the 2024 Porsche Cayenne, everyone was excited to see it in real life. After this, it wasn’t long before some images popped up online that seemed to preview the exterior design of the facelifted SUV. These images were shared on Instagram, and from the looks of it, they seem to have been snapped from the updated infotainment system of the 2024 Porsche Cayenne. They display a detailed computer-generated image of the SUV. And even though it is not the same as seeing the SUV on the road without camouflage, we can get a chance to see what the updated exterior design looks like. However, the images have low resolution, but we can still make out the major features.
Looking back at the steering wheel, it has been borrowed from the Porsche 911 and has a more purposeful design. It has a dedicated mode selector, giving the driver easy access to Normal, Off-Road, Sport, and Sport Plus settings. The drivers also get a redesigned lever that controls the driver assistance systems.
But the changes don’t end there. The entire dashboard has received an overhaul, making everything look better. And one nice touch is the air vents that lack louvers. This redesigning also extends to the door panels, which have been updated, and an even classier stopwatch.
Last but not least, the 2024 Cayenne now offers faster recharging. However, we are not talking about the plug-in hybrid variants. The crossover comes with a new 15-watt wireless smartphone charger, which enables modern phones to recharge faster. Porsche was able to increase the wattage, all thanks to the use of a "cooled smartphone storage area."
The upgrades go on, with the Cayenne coming with two new USB-C ports in the front storage compartment as well as two more on the back of the center console. These ports offer a fast charge function, which should help reduce the time you have to stay plugged in.
When it comes to the specs, Porsche has given you a variety of options to choose from. The very first one is a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that gives off about 349 horsepower. The plug-in hybrid, which they call the E-Hybrid, couples an electric motor and a turbocharged V6, giving off a combined 464 horsepower. On the other hand, the Cayenne S boasts a twin-turbo V8 that produces 469 horsepower. It has a great-sounding exhaust note and amazing acceleration. As for the range-topping GTS trim, we can expect it to come with more power than all these variants. However, Porsche has yet to confirm whether that trim will be released.
All the engines are paired with an astute eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. As much as making anything that weighs more than two tons move smoothly and swiftly is challenging, the engineers in Stuttgart have managed to make the Cayenne move like any ordinary SUV. When you take it out for a drive, it is as athletic and refined as last year’s model. Most trims will come with performance options that should include adaptive dampers with or without an adjustable air suspension, four-wheel steering to improve maneuverability, and active anti-roll bars for flatter cornering. However, we still have to wait for the production model to make its debut so that we can see what it has to fully offer.
The new changes on the 2024 Porsche Cayenne are something to look forward to. The new exterior redesign makes it stand out, but the interior is just so fascinating. The new design makes it look classier and more luxurious than ever. We are expected to see the 2024 Porsche Cayenne make its debut on April 18, which is not so far from here. But for now, we are only left to wonder what it feels like inside.
