The Future of the Image: Discover the Sublime | Rosario Lebrija Rassvetaieff | TEDxHultLondon |
|
We live in a world where photography has become ubiquitous – a world in which everyone can, and is, taking and sharing pictures. We are bombarded by images blown up on billboards, on menus at restaurants, magazines, texts from friends, and, of course, a constant flow on social media. This overconsumption has desensitized us to the power of the image and is giving way to an alarming rise of mental health issues.
So, what is the future of the image and how do we discern a meaningful photograph from the never-ending stream of images sent our way? In this TEDx talk, Rosario explores what she calls “the sublime photograph”. Rosario Lebrija Rassvetaieff holds a combined honours BA in Literature and International Relations (First Class) from the University of Southampton and an MSc in Communication and Media Studies (Distinction) from the London School of Economics and Political Science. She was born and raised in Mexico City and currently works for the Pictet Group, co-heading the corporate social media team and managing the Prix Pictet, the leading global award on photography and sustainability (http://www.prixpictet.com/). Rosario is the creator and host of the podcast ‘Prix Pictet: A lens on sustainability’. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx |
