Opel has introduced a fully electric variant of the Astra for the first time in its history. The new Opel Astra Electric is a major step towards Opel’s transformation into an all-electric automotive brand. The car boasts an impressive range of up to 418 kilometers (WLTP) on a single charge, thanks to its 54-kWh battery pack. The electric motor powering the vehicle delivers a commendable 115 kW (156 hp) and 270 Nm of torque, making it not only eco-friendly but also sufficiently powerful. The car weighs just 1,679 kilograms, which is relatively light for an electric vehicle and contributes to its performance.
The design and features of the Astra Electric are equally compelling. The vehicle exhibits a bold and clear design, accompanied by a plethora of standard electronic aids. The Astra Electric is also the first Opel model to offer the Intelli-Drive 2.0 system, a state-of-the-art driver assistance system with semi-automatic lane change assist and intelligent speed adaptation. The vehicle comes with a comfortable AGR-certified ergonomic Active Sport driver’s seat and a fully digital Pure Panel Pro cockpit with two 10-inch displays, providing a luxurious and modern driving experience. Customers now have a broader range of drivetrain options with the Opel Astra. Besides the fully electric model, the Astra is available with highly efficient combustion engines and as an electrified plug-in hybrid. Opel also plans to release the Astra Sports Tourer Electric later this year, which will be the brand's first all-electric estate car. This marks Opel's dedication to providing customers with a diverse array of environmentally friendly options. The new Astra Electric is designed for efficient and engaging driving. With its 156 hp electric motor, the car is capable of a top speed of 170 km/h, which is higher than the speed limitation found in many electric vehicles. Moreover, drivers have the option to select between three driving modes – Eco, Normal, and Sport – based on their preference for efficiency or performance. A standout feature of the Astra Electric is its 54-kWh lithium-ion battery, which not only provides a significant range but also supports fast charging. The car can be charged to 80% of its capacity in under 30 minutes at a 100-kW DC fast charging station. It also comes standard with a three-phase 11-kW onboard charger for convenient home charging. Additionally, the regenerative braking system allows the car to recover energy during braking, further enhancing its efficiency. Space is not compromised in the Astra Electric. The battery is strategically placed in the underbody, ensuring that interior space is preserved for passengers and luggage. The car offers 352 liters of luggage space with the rear seats up and can expand to 1,268 liters when the seats are folded. The battery's placement also lowers the car's center of gravity, providing stability on the road and allowing for a sporty seating position. Moreover, the Astra Electric’s body has been reinforced to increase torsional stiffness by 31%, compared to other Astra variants. #OpelAstraElectric2024 #OpelAstraElectric #OpelAstraElectricfirstlook #OpelAstraElectric2024exterior #OpelAstraElectric2024interior #OpelAstraElectricwalkaround #OpelAstraElectricdetails #OpelAstraElectricnew ➡️ Discover all new cars before anyone else!
