There is a way to get Whatsapp on iPad. Whatsapp has never made a native app for Whatsapp. They have apps for iPhone, Android, and Mac or PC. However, they do have an option via the Whatsapp website that allows you to use Whatsapp on iPad.

This still requires a mobile phone to set up. However, once you set it up, you can just use your iPad to send messages and you don't need to install any third-party apps in order to get Whatsapp on iPad or iPad Pro.
