1,000 members and officers of the General Operations Force (GOF) surrounded 'mini Dhaka' at Jalan Silang today.

The operation began at 11 am to raid the colony of foreigners, who were seen as becoming increasingly bold and behaving like locals.

Fully armed security forces and special equipment were seen entering each premise involving four blocks on the mentioned street.

It is understood that the raid was carried out to address the influx of foreigners on Jalan Silang and the businesses owned and employed by foreigners.

Reporters following the operation found that at least 500 foreigners were detained as of 1pm.

Most of the foreigners, consisting mainly of Bangladeshis, Nepalis, and Myanmar nationals, failed to escape after the surprise raid.

Inspections at one premises found foreigners running a tourism agency business also offering private clinic services.

Authorities also found various types of medications believed to be from Bangladesh without the approval of the Malaysian Ministry of Health.

All detained foreigners were taken to the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Center (Pulapol) for documentation verification processes.
