In this one, I zero in on what is generally required in order to qualify for being a philosophy professor, the job market that ha been difficult for several generations, the arbitrariness of the hiring process, and the likelihood of teaching as an adjunct or fixed term instructor rather than getting a tenure-track position. I think it is important to be brutally realistic, neither pessimistic nor optimistic, about the prospects in the present and likely future.
