|
Rachel Ai's Student TED talk explores the stigmas surrounding feminism and the harmful impacts such stigma can create, sharing her personal experiences and observations and suggesting possible solutions.
Rachel Ai is a high school senior from Shenzhen, China, who is interested in the humanities and gender studies. Since ninth grade, she has served as an intern for a national nonprofit organization geared towards empowering women and children in rural China. She has been involved in planning and teaching kids sexual and gender education, organizing school fundraising events (including a charity market to support rural women and children) and recruiting volunteers from regional high schools in China to participate in gender equality programs. Utilizing local resources and opportunities, Rachel Ai endeavors to support women who have been restrained by unequal opportunities and stereotypes. Facilitator: Shawn Garrett TED-Ed, TED's education initiative, inspires tomorrow's TED speakers and future leaders by supporting students in discovering, developing and sharing their big ideas in the form of short, TED-style talks. In the TED-Ed Student Talk program, students work together to discuss and celebrate creative ideas through TED-Ed's flexible curriculum.
