video thumbnail
Languages are disappearing all around the world. In Hong Kong, where the native dialect is Cantonese, what languages are affected and what can we do to preserve what's left?

Dr. Cathryn Donohue received a first class honours degree in Linguistics from the Australian National University, focussing on Chinese tones. She continued her research on Chinese tones at the University of Hong Kong as a Commonwealth Scholar. She received her PhD in Linguistics from Stanford University and is now an assistant professor at the University of Hong Kong.
