In this AP Daily: Live Review session for AP US History, we will review the European colonial settlements in North America and develop skills for responding to short-answer and multiple-choice questions.
We'll review content essentials from Time Periods 1 and 2 (1491 – 1754). Including the American Indian societies from 1491 and how geography influenced their way of life. The video will examine the effects of European contact on American Indians and how the Columbian exchange impacted both continents. We will compare the key elements of Spanish, French, and English colonization. Additional comparisons will be made between the English colonial regions (Southern, Mid-Atlantic, and New England). We will review various colonial sources of labor and the role of mercantilism in the relationship between England and her colonies. We will also examine the social effects of the Enlightenment and Great Awakening. In addition to an overview of the APUSH exam format, this session’s exam component focus will be the short-answer question (SAQ) and multiple-choice questions (MCQ). We will examine the question styles and scoring rubric for SAQs.
