The Archaeology of Global Challenges: The Cohors II Galatarum | Erin Darby & Robert Darby | TEDxUTK

Archaeological projects like those directed by Erin and Robert Darby may hold the key to solving many of today's most pressing global issues. In this talk, the Darbys' recount their four year excavation that changed the understanding of power relations in Rome. These discoveries bring to mind the importance of considering resource sustainability and the natural environment's impact on architecture.

Erin Darby teaches in the Department of Religious Studies. Each summer, Erin and Robert Darby head up an archaeological dig called ‘Ayn Gharandal in the southern desert of Jordan, near Akaba. Conflict prevention and resolution is a focus of the project.
