6 Weeks After Knee Replacement (Stairs) #ClinicCAM |
|
Stairs can be a challenge after total knee replacement. This patient is 6-weeks post op and doing really well. She is able to ascend and descend stairs with a cane and the use of the handrail. Once she is confidently going up and down stairs in this manner we can improve her ability to descend stairs forward.
Early in the rehab process you will hear the term up with the good and down with the bad. Eventually you will want to be able to ascend / descend stairs in a more common step over step pattern as shown here.
