The Keep Safe Scheme in Perth & Kinross |
![]() |
The ‘Keep Safe’ Scheme, a Council partnership with Centre for Inclusive Living Perth and Kinross (CILPK) and Police Scotland, exists to help people with a disability who may have difficulties accessing assistance or advice whilst in the city centre.
Through 'Keep Safe', visitors to the City Centre who have a disability would be able to go into local shops and businesses who are members of the scheme if they are feeling worried or concerned and staff within these shops will be able to assist them. The businesses involved will have a sign in a prominent part of their shop window indicating they are a 'Safe Place' and a member of staff would be able to provide any necessary help or advice. Anybody can apply to be part of the 'Keep Safe' Scheme and individuals will be given a personalised card. The application form allows the person to provide the details that they want on the card. This can be things like giving people time to speak, asking for a seat or maybe where you keep your medication. You can also select pictures to go on the card to make communication even easier.
