video thumbnail
How can we minimise the vulnerabilities of workers?

We asked Mr Kenneth Lim, Assistant Chief Executive (Industry and Transformation) at the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, Mr Poon King Wang, Director of the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities at Singapore University of Technology and Design, Mr Abdul Samad Abdul Wahab, Nominated Member of Parliament and General Secretary of the Union of Power & Gas Employees (UPAGE) and Ms K Thanaletchimi, President of the Healthcare Services Employee's Union, to speak about the support needed by workers in keeping them resilient, as well as the assistance that can be extended by stakeholders, namely employers and unions.

A wide range of issues was raised, such as the need to identify vulnerable groups early and direct the necessary training in keeping up with wide-scale industry shifts, the considerations behind unemployment support and the role unions can play.
