Video 12: Highlights: Second week of CSW and more information |
|
The NGO Committee on the Status of Women, NY (NGO CSW/NY), supports the work of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women and UN Women. NGO CSW/NY is an untiring advocate with Member States for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls across the globe in support of the work of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women and UN Women. NGO CSW/NY supports the implementation of the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, UN Security Resolution 1325, the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Convention to Eliminate All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Week 2 will wrap up the negotiations and on the final day we hope Member States will be able to come up with Agreed Conclusions on “Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.” The negotiations will be discussed at the morning briefings. A good resource during CSW is the NGO Forum Handbook. The handbook lists all parallel events happening during CSW and all events organized and co-sponsored by NGO CSW/NY. Side events at the UN organized by Member States or UN are not listed. UN Women’s website lists these events and also offers their own app which you can download. Please check their website for more information. If you are going to Consultation Day, you will receive a hard copy for free of the handbook. Otherwise you will need to purchase one for $5. There is also an online handbook version on the NGO CSW/NY website. We suggest if possible, to download the mobile Guidebook app. In guidebook, search “ngo csw”. It will be available a few weeks to a month prior to CSW. The app and website event listings are updated regularly. Any changes will be made as soon as we are aware of them. Unfortunately as the printed version of the handbook is made more than a month prior to CSW, it is impossible for it to be updated. If you are a parallel event organizer, please contact the office with any changes. |
