How To Do a Bike Fit In 3 Steps |
|
Here are our 3 simple steps to perform your own bike fit. We spoke to Head Bike-fitter Kieran from Triathlon Hub, on how you should set up your bike. This will help you get more comfortable on your bike, allowing you to ride for longer and have more fun!
Step 1: Saddle Height Sitting on the saddle with your pedals in the 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock positions, your leg should be straight when your heel is placed on the pedal at the 6 o'clock position. Step 2: Saddle Layback Use the drop test to determine your saddle layback: Hold onto your drops and pedal at a moderate intensity, let go of the bars and what happens next determines what to do with your saddle. If you fall forwards, then move your saddle forwards. If you find it very easy to hold the position when you let go, move your saddle backward. If the feeling is somewhere in between the two, then your saddle is correctly set-up. Step 3: Handlebar Reach If there is too much pressure on your hands, look to move any spacers above your stem or acquire a longer stem. Conversely, if you are reaching too far and perhaps hunching, look to move any spacers you may have underneath your stem, or get yourself a shorter stem. If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments and we'll do our best to get back to you. Liking and subscribing is also a great way to help support this channel.
