If you're considering buying a new car, there's a good chance an EV is on your list. Whether or not you should take the plunge now is a different matter entirely, but if you're serious about buying an electric car, this test is going to be important viewing for you.

For our EV comparison review, we got four of the newest and most interesting electric car contenders together to see what they're like to live with, how far you can drive on a charge, whether recharging is quick and easy (or not), and also gave them a thorough practicality test - including fitting a baby seat and loading up the boot.

Our four EV contenders are: the Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 AWD, the Kia EV6 GT-Line AWD, and the BMW iX xDrive40 Sport.

All of them are all-wheel drive for this test, all have different intents and designs, and all of them have more than 400 kilometres of claimed EV driving range.
