Rodney Dangerfield! Other comedians might have pushed the form more, other comedians might've been more inventive or more nuanced, but there's nobody alive or dead that's better at straight up -- old school -- stand up comedy. No one can compete with him in laughs per minute. The guy is a machine. He's the best at what he does, even though he was sorta late to the party. And not only was it a weird time for him to get huge with that style, it was a weird time in his life. Let's talk through it.

Last video, I talked about taking time away, to allow myself to be sad and to return to comedy when things weren't so sad. And that's exactly what happened to the comedian we're gonna talk about today. He was having a rough time, he wasn't enjoying it, wasn't great, wasn't finding success. He stepped away from comedy, and then, a decade later, he came back and had one of the best careers in comedy history. Today is all about second chances and new beginnings.
