This video will cover the practical skills needed for successful negotiation using assertiveness and give you a starting point on how to become a more confident and competent communicator. In this series of assertiveness scenarios you will see how the PA developed more assertiveness by making simple changes to her dialogue and how she approached the manager.

• Scenario 1 in which the PA did not show any Assertiveness. She was more of a push-over and took on a task she was ill-equipped to handle.

• Scenario 2 where the PA responded with some Assertiveness resistance to the demands of the manager.

• In Scenario 3 the PA's response was much more Assertive. She was able to negotiate effectively and get her manager to take both her and her needs more seriously

• Scenario 4 shows the effective and assertive PA manager her manager effectively, tactfully and with confidence. She was able to suggest alternate options and not get herself into accepting a task she simply could not complete on time.

When watching these assertiveness training videos, pause and rewind them if you feel the need to go over some of the techniques to improve your effectiveness with others. Remember, practice doesn't make perfect but good practice makes permanent.
