Keys to success everyone can learn from refugees | Liyah Babayan | TEDxBoise |
|
How do the 68 million refugees worldwide rebuild their lives after wars, genocide, and natural disasters force them from their homes and countries? With fewer resources but greater fortitude, they begin afresh and not only rebuild, but also contribute to their
adopted communities both economically and culturally. They have three specific lessons about success to offer the world. Liyah is a dedicated social entrepreneur with a passion for giving back to her adoptive community and country. After surviving the anti-Armenian ethnic killings in Azerbaijan, Liyah and her family were resettled in Twin Falls, Idaho through the CSI Refugee Program. She became an entrepreneur at age 22, served on the Twin Falls School Board and was the first refugee to run for Twin Falls City Council election. Liyah has been recognized as one of Idaho's Women of the Year, and featured in The New York Times. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx |
