I think that to get the best range of motion after a total knee you need to put in the time and know what to do to achieve your goals. In total knee replacements you really only get one chance to get a good outcome, there are no do-overs. Commonly, once your knee is stiff or you develop scar tissue you will be stiff for life. I will show you the two exercises I share with every single one of my patients. I believe that it is these two exercises that help them achieve their goals. I commonly hear from therapists about how my patients recover so much faster than most total knee replacement patients that they care for. Although the pre-op preparation, the surgery and pain control protocols play a part in that outcome, a major factor is patient participation in therapy. Always check with your doctor before starting any exercise program.
