Mount Hood Volcano Update; Ongoing Earthquake Swarm |
|
The Mount Hood Volcano in the state of Oregon is showing signs of unrest, as hydrothermal fluids related to its underlying magma chamber are on the move. This has led to a series of earthquakes at its summit, while also triggering movement at a series of nearby faults. During a 12 hour timespan, a swarm of 21 such earthquakes occurred which is unusual for the Mount Hood volcano. So, is an eruption likely? What is the context of these earthquakes? This video will answer these two questions, and discuss what might happen next at this volcano.
