In this video, I address the most odious of all fats - “trans fats” which are sometimes called “plastic fats” because their molecular structure is so close to plastic. Trans fats were invented as a cheap way to prolong shelf life of ultra-processed foods like microwave pizza and popcorn, cookies, crackers, and donuts. Many fried foods have trans fats because they are cooked in cheap seed oils that become hydrogenated. Trans fats are awful for you. They raise your cholesterol and clog your arteries and lead to cardiovascular disease.
