A third coronavirus vaccine from Jersey’s own Johnson & Johnson began shipping Monday and could arrive at distribution sites as early as Tuesday. Gov. Phil Murphy is calling it a game-changer in the fight against the coronavirus.
Monday, Murphy expanded vaccine eligibility to hundreds of thousands of more residents starting in just two weeks. On March 15, teachers and staff for Pre-K through 12th grade students can schedule a vaccine, in addition to essential workers in child care, transportation and public safety and MVC workers. Tribal communities, homeless, shelter residents and migrant farm workers were also added to the list. Health officials announced 2,668 new, positive cases and 21 deaths. Since the start of the pandemic there have been 704,362 cases in the state and 23,273 confirmed and probable deaths.
