Gov. Phil Murphy is calling for all hands on deck to beat the second wave of COVID-19. It’s unclear if the newly-reported coronavirus cases are linked to holiday social gatherings, but there’s clear evidence of a spike.
The state is announcing a large uptick in COVID-related deaths from 15 to 90 fatalities in a day. It's the highest confirmed death rate reported in a single day since June. A look at the state's hospitals show 3,129 patients are currently being treated for the coronavirus -- the highest number in more than six months. Statewide there are 4,661 new cases being reported. There are now 341,910 total COVID-19 cases and 17,083 lives lost to the virus in New Jersey.
