Brie Larson (and her coach) recently decided to combine a band-resistance belt squat with a kettlebell goblet squat. The result? As it seems, we’ve found another exercise combination that doesn’t serve any additional value whatsoever. Unfortunately, it’s quite the contrary. The extra effort (created through an unnecessary moment arm) must be compensated by another muscle group - in this case, the lower back.

The ongoing display of Hollywood coaches being blissfully unaware of basic biomechanical principles of free-weight exercises, is somehow interesting to notice. That‘s the fire that spurs the lay-person to imitate the movements they see on social media. This is exactly why world class experts don‘t hold high hollywood and celebrity coaches in high regard.
