Current Situation: High pressure is dominating the weather and will do so throughout the coming week with the heat and drought intensifying.

Today:

Sunday begins dry and sunny away from north and west Scotland where we've patchy rain.

Through the rest of the day patchy rain will continue for northern and western Scotland but all other places will stay dry with bags of sunshine especially for England and Wales. Temperatures will be very warm at 21C to 27C but western Scotland will be cooler at 15C.

Tonight:

Patchy rain continues for western Scotland while the rest of the country remains dry with clear spells and variable cloud. A mild night with temperatures of 10C to 16C although some rural areas in the west might go down to 7C.

Tomorrow:

Rain may turn heavy for western Scotland but the rest of the country will stay dry and there will be unbroken sunshine for England and Wales. Temperatures will be slightly warmer than todat at 21C to 28C.

Outlook:

Tuesday: Dry and sunny. Hot for England and Wales.

Wednesday: Dry, sunny and hot.

Thursday: Dry, sunny and hot.

Friday: Dry, sunny and very hot.

Saturday: Dry sunny and very hot.

Sunday: Dry, sunny and possibly slightly less hot.
